Viruses

My experiences with viruses are that they always seem to confuse the heck out of me. To begin, you can be running a program with some really important information, and before you are about to save, something out of the blue will pop up, and next thing you know, your computer crashes. If you’re lucky enough to save before your computer crashes, then you are one of those lucky ones who remember to save, before the mistake takes place. Sometimes with viruses, you can’t seem to fix the problem in just a day. Sometimes, the virus can take up days to fix, depending on the situation you are in. Also, viruses seem to slow down your computer a lot that sometimes, you need to finish up something, but you can’t because the virus had slowed down your system. Another thing about a computer virus, is that it can be from a porn website, to just a regular pop up, that just seemed to come out of nowhere. Viruses tend to make you frustrated with whatever you are working on because you just don’t understand why it’s happening all of a sudden. Sometimes fixing up the viruses on your computer, take up time, and money spent, on having a professional taking a look at it, when the problem can be fixed in just moments. Sometimes, the virus is too much, that you just need a new computer/lab top and say goodbye to any of your unsaved work that you had worked on in the past. If you can seem to fix up the virus problem, then you are one of those people who stay ahead of everything and focus on your work. Maybe you seem to focus a lot on your computer that a virus is just a regular window screen that comes up, and you just close it, right out, in a flash.

Powerpoint

What I learned in Microsoft Power point, is how to create a 12 slide presentation that runs automatically, without clicking the mouse/button. To start off, I had to look into the book, to see how I can add in different slides and how to change the background color. I wanted to have all of the slides the same color, but I knew that it wouldn’t be as interesting as it would seem. After looking into the book some more, I ended up having every two slides, one color, and then switch to another. Once I got my pattern down, I looked into adding in the song’s lyrics, by not having in to type them in. Once I got the lyrics in, I had to shrink them down, so they can fit on the slides. I went back and edited all of the different slides, so the beat of the song can keep a constant flow with the lyrics. Once I finally got all of my writing done, I added in my pictures and placed them in where they’d best fit, in the song. I made a few of the pictures have an action, but I made sure that not all have an action, or else the slide would mess up with the song. Once I finally got all of the slides done, I added in the song. It seemed easy, but what then gave me difficulties, is that I didn’t record it, so I had to do it once again. When I finally had my song in, along with the slides, I had my instructor and a couple of classmates help me out with a few technical errors and then I was ready to present. I learned how to make Power Point more fun, by including a song and the lyrics.

Twitter

What I know about “Twitter” is that I’ve never really heard of it, till this class. What I found out about Twitter is that a lot of people hate it, and a lot of people who join Twitter, are then soon quitters. I’m not really sure what that really means because like I mentioned, I’ve never heard of it, till my instructor mentioned it, and I talked with a couple of my classmates. I will describe the difference between the good and the bad of Twitter, from MySpace.
The good things about Twitter are, you can stay in touch with a lot of people. A lot of those people can be from your friends, to your family. Another good thing about Twitter is that you can tell anyone that is bothering you that you are someone else, just to get them away from you. Another good thing about Twitter, is that you can randomly be talking to someone who’s been through a lot of experience, and there for, that person can give you a lot of ideas or pointers, depending on what the conversation is all about.
The bad things about Twitter are that you can lie to a lot of people, by not showing a picture of yourself. You can be talking to a minor or someone in that “not normal” category and end up getting in a lot of trouble with the law. Un like MySpace where you have a picture of yourself and see picture/s of the ones you are talking to, Twitter doesn’t have pictures and so, that’s when you know you can be talking with spam. MySpace receives spam too, but you can ignore that. Twitter, you can’t say much because you won’t be able to know if it is spam of someone real.

Windows Lab

CIS100 Computer Applications
EOC Week 5

So far in the Windows Lab, I want to continue to learn how to use Microsoft Excel because that’s still the program that I’m having most troubles with. I still haven’t quite figured out how to get the columns and rows, to add up. Also, I still feel that I need to learn how to add in data because I might need that program in my field. I still would like to cover what’s all in the book, and if anything else comes up, I think it would be great to learn all of it. There’s still a few things about all of the programs that I still don’t quite know how to use, so it’s definitely a good idea to learn something new. I really don’t know what else to talk about or what else to learn that I haven’t seen to my point, but I’m looking forward to learning new things.
